Jackfruit Sweet Bondas (Konkani: Mulik/Mulk)

Jackfruit..Ah one of my sons favorite fruit. I never used to have much during my childhood. But seeing my son have it I too started eating it and now I too like it. One should have this fruit early in the morning on empty stomach as it little difficult to digest.

Mulk/Mulik is a dish prepared from Jackfruit and is very tasty. We get two types of Jackfruit. One we call Tilvo and other Kappo. I have made this dish out of Tilvo Jackfruit which has soft pods. You can make it out of kappo Jackfruit also(which has little hard pods) but one more step will be included. Instead of directly grinding the pods  you will have to boil them in little water and then grind it.

You can have this dish during teatime. Do try it once and I bet you will always make it during Jackfruit season.

Ingredients:

  • 15 Jackfruit Pods
  • 1 glass Rava
  • 3/4 cup grated Coconut
  • 1/2 cup Jaggery
  • Pinch of salt
  • Oil for deep frying

Method:

  1. Grind Jackfruit Pods in the mixer to form smooth paste.

  2. Transfer the paste into a bowl. Add grated Coconut and Jaggery.

  3. Add Rava. Mix it well.
  4. Let this mixture stand for 15 minutes.

  5. Heat Oil in a kadai.
  6. Make small balls of the Jackfruit mixture and put them in the kadai.
  7. Deep fry them till they turn brown in colour.
  8. Tasty Jackfruit Sweet Bondas (Konkani: Mulik/Mulk) is ready.
