Greens Side-Dish (Konkani:Alsando ani Bhajji Randai)

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of chopped Tamdi Bhajji
  • 1 cup of Alsando
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 1/2 cup grated Coconut
  • 5-6 Red Chilies
  • Pinch of Turmeric Powder
  • Small piece of Tamarind
  • 1 1/2 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • Water
  • Salt according to your taste

Seasoning:

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • Asafoetida
  • 5-6 Curry leaves

Method:

  1. Soak Alsando overnight.

  2. Cook Alsando in the Cooker (3 whistles).

  3. Wash and clean Bhajji (I use Tamdi Bhajji). Chop it.

  4. Add the chopped Bhaji to the cooked Alsando in the Cooker. Add the chopped Onion and water.
  5. Cook it (1 whistle).
  6. Put the grated Coconut in the Mixer/Grinder.
  7. Add Red Chilies, Coriander Seeds, Turmeric, Tamarind, and water. Grind it.

  8. Add the ground masala to the cooked Bhajji and Alsando.

  9. Allow it to boil for 5 minutes on medium flame.
  10. Take Oil in a Kadai and add Mustard seeds, Asafoetida and Curry leaves. Add this seasoning to Alsando ani Bhajji Randayi.
